Default Problem rendering Reflection Occlusion

Greetings,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out with this one. I'm using the standard Ambient/Reflection Occlusion shader in Max 2008. The Ambient Occlusion pass comes out just fine, but when i hit the check box for Reflection Occlusion the resulting render looks as if its rendering without any smoothing groups. (Its almost as if MR is not doing any kind of interpolation or smoothing across the edges of the model)
I've attached some examples of my AO and RO tests.

As for render settings, I've tried all kinds of quality and sample settings and nothing seems to blur the edges smoothly across the model. Any help would be appreciated.

thanks,
B.

Hey!

As far as i can all you have to do is smooth the normals instead of smoothing geometry.Don't know a lot about Max,but it must have a tool equal to Maya's "Soften Edge".It will help for sure.If it don't,try to use MR Subdivision Approximation on your model, although it's not the best solution for sure
